Attendance is mandatory for those who will apply for Criminal Justice grants
These grants are funded through the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA), the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), State Criminal Justice Planning program, and Juvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention Act. Organizations that are eligible to apply include: state agencies, units of local government, non-profit agencies, Native American tribes, community supervision & corrections departments, and councils of government. To assist interested applicants with the requirements for grant submission, a mandatory workshop will be held January 12, 2016 at TCOG. This workshop is provided for those who have never applied to CJD as well as those who have previous experience with the CJD grant application process.
The workshop, which is scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m., is free and requires no pre-registration. It will be held in the Eisenhower room (first floor) of the Texoma COG Building, 1117 Gallagher Drive, Sherman, Texas. Participation in the grant application workshop is mandatory for applicants applying to the Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division.
TCOG, in conjunction with the Criminal Justice Advisory Committee, provides coordination of the application process, including reviewing the applications and setting priorities for the applications. Last year, Criminal Justice Division awarded over $800,000 to eligible organizations in the Texoma Region.
